The typical, well-known Viking sword that was used in the 9th century. According to Petersen's typology it is a type "E", having a pommel and a cross with the characteristic shape and dotted decorations.
There are original finds from the region around Trondheim, Norway. However, this sword is based on an original sword that is in the National Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The forged and tempered blade has rounded edges, which allows it to be used during full contact sparring and fighting. The cross and pommel are made of bronze. Just as in the original, the pommel is secured by two rivets. The tang is covered with a wooden handle and wrapped with leather which provides a strong and secure grip.
This is an excellent sword for heavy combat. We have put these to the test for years in full contact competitions. The balance, weight and highly durable material, together with the fully blunted edge makes it the perfect sword for full contact sparring and battles.
