Reproduction of a pendant found in the remarkable Viking Age treasure in Eketorp, Sweden. Just as the original, it has been crafted in genuine silver. It depicts a coiled snake, which fits well with Níðhöggr in Norse mythology.
In Viking mythology, Níðhöggr (Malice Striker) is a serpent who dwells among the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil and gnaws on them. He also chews on the corpses of murderers, adulterers and oath-breakers, the worst crimes of Viking Age Scandinavia, who have ended up in Náströnd (Corpse Shore) in Hel, the realm of the dead.
