Battle ready Viking shield boss made from strong 12 gauge steel with 5 pre-drilled holes. If you need forged nails to attach it with, we suggest buying the set that comes wtih hand-forged nails.

The shield boss protected the warrior's hand that held the shield. Shields were the most common form of defense among the Vikings. They were famously and successfully used in formations, such as the shield wall. Made from fir, alder, poplar or linden, shields were often covered with linen and given a rawhide rim to increase their durability.

The quality is excellent and the shipping was very fast. It really is a raw piece of steel and has a very dull/matte finish which is cool. You can shine it up though. The only downside is the 5 holes are too big in my opinion. The iron nails I use are too small for this boss compared to my other ones from other companies. I will buy again I just have to get bigger headed nails. Excellent product. You won't be disappointed.
