Comfortable kyrtill (overtunic) based on the wool garment found in Moselund Bog, Denmark, dated to circa 1100. Just like the original, it is made it 2/1 twill weave and comes with side gores that that reach all the way to the top of the back piece. The front and back gores are split up the center for horseback riding - a design called "blaðakyrtill" in old Icelandic texts. The pattern is based on that of Susanna Broome who has for 30 years been a solid source for Viking Age clothing patterns in Sweden.
The original can be seen at the National Museum of Denmark. Wear it over a linen tunic for looks and warmth during chilly weather.
The original tunic was made out of a brownish color 2/1 twill weave wool.
